The material, plastic, has been around for many years now and it has since then revolutionized the way humans perceive the world. Science and technology has gone deep into the research of this resin compound which has varying characteristics based on the chemical composition and the curing treatment used. This property of plastic makes it a very good candidate for a truly versatile material that has a wide range of possible applications from soft plastic bags to rigid stackable display cases, the potentials are infinite.
To be able to cater to a wide range of products, intense research and development has to be done in order to ensure that it is safe, effective, and cheap to manufacture in the market. I guess we could say that the development was a success considering how plastic can be easily found all around us. From water bottles, grocery bags, food wrappers, and even on our computers, indeed injection molded plastic parts are very common these days, and they have every reason to be. Plastic is easily manipulated to be formed into various shapes and sizes with various strengths which give it the edge over other material competitors such as steel or glass which are very limited in application.
Much has been done in the industry of plastic forming, and much has yet to be done. The current situation only suggests that innovations to such a material can be limitless. It is only a matter of time until we are completely surrounded by plastics.
